Terms of Use

Version 1, updated 19 October 2026

Good Church — Terms of Use 1. About Good Church Good Church Limited (company number 9429053430878 ) ("Good Church", "we", "us") owns and operates goodchurch.co.nz. Good Church provides a software-assisted policy advisory service for New Zealand churches ("the Service"). The Service includes both the software and any related support provided by Good Church staff. Your church (registered charitable entity) has agreed to Terms of Service with Good Church that you must uphold as a user under that agreement. 2. You can use this for your church. Your access comes from the church or organisation you're linked to in Good Church, and they can remove it. Use Good Church only for your paid or voluntary work with that organisation, not for personal use. Please use your organisation email address if you have one. Good Church creates answers for you based on documents uploaded by your church, approved by your leaders and decision makers. 3. Questions are your church’s records, not private records. Your questions and the answers belong to your organisation and aren't private. Good Church staff may also see them, and talk about them with the right people at your organisation, to support and improve the service, as any customer service would. They're kept for 2 years. 4. It's not for theological or pastoral care, just legal and stewardship. Only include what's needed. If your question is about another person, leave out names, use job titles and roles. This is the identifying details that matter to a more accurate answer. If your concern is about a leader, say so in your question as some churches put additional requirements or expectations on leaders. We support safe, transparent, and accountable church practices. 5. When you ask a question about safety, someone is notified (but we are not an emergency service). Questions that require us to use documents related to care, safety, or protection of people automatically notify a safe contact in your church. We may also share the question, answer, and who asked, if required, to help the church prevent harm. If a question seems to involve that person, we will pass it to another leader in your church. Safeguarding contacts must handle what they receive, however they receive it, in line with their organisation's safeguarding policy. If you're notified of safeguarding questions have been asked, treat it with the sensitivity it deserves. In an emergency, contact emergency services. 6. Answers can be wrong. Answers are generated to the same performance expectations as a professional policy advisor. But even professional policy advisors can be wrong. Answers are generated by AI from your church’s own policies. Your question and the relevant parts of those policies are sent to our AI providers to write the answer. They don't keep it or use it to train AI. Answers aren't considered professional advice. Check them, and make decisions as your church normally would. 7. You maintain your account details. Your church owns the records. Your name, email, and role are held as part of your organisation's account. You can see and correct them. You can see your question history, but you can't change it. It's a record kept for your organisation. If you think a record is wrong, talk to your organisation. Keep your login yours. Don't share your account. The church is paying per user. If someone asks to use your account refer them to the email address on the Charities website as that is the email address used to set up the Good Church account. 8. Questions? hello@goodchurch.co.nz.
